October 2023 Tips - Officer Training Records
Ongoing police training, also known as in-service or continuing education, is essential for law enforcement officers to maintain and enhance their skills, keep up with changes in laws and procedures, and address emerging challenges in policing. Some examples of ongoing police training include Firearms Training, Legal Updates, First Aid and Medical Training, Active Shooter Response, Forensic Training, and Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation.
Through the Personnel Module of In-Synch RMS, agencies can record individual training records for their employees. The "Type of Training" pick list is user-editable, allowing each agency to customize the values to their specific terminology. Training records can include:
A description of the training.
Dates of attendance.
Total hours involved.
Total training cost.
Qualification and certification numbers.
Expiration dates.
A Training Report is also available through the Personnel Management Module, with options to print, save as a PDF file, or email.
