April 2023 Tips - Officer Safety Notifications

Did you know that the Department of Justice data estimates that approximately 18,500 officers suffer injuries yearly after being assaulted on the job?

According to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, 264 law enforcement officers died in the line of duty in 2021, with firearms being the leading cause of death (135). The FBI's Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted (LEOKA) Program reported that in 2019, there were 48,628 reported assaults against law enforcement officers, resulting in 13,977 injuries. The same FBI report showed that in 2019, 89 law enforcement officers died due to felonious acts, and 47 officers died in accidents while performing their duties.

It is important to note that these statistics only provide a snapshot of officer safety in the United States. The actual numbers may be higher due to underreporting or other factors. Additionally, the nature of law enforcement work inherently carries risks, and measures to enhance officer safety are constantly evolving.

Along with other essential alerts, officer safety information can appear on the notification bar throughout the In-Synch RMS software suite.

Notification Bar

Notifications can display at the bottom of the Address, Organization, Person, and Vehicle Management windows. These notifications are often linked to officer safety warnings, special handling instructions, previous arrest records, or active warrants. Users can view the details of existing notifications through the one-click Master Indexes.

Notifications and alerts are customizable. Agencies can decide which notifications display, the order, the color, and whether the notifications "flash."
